Trust me there’s better content out there besides the popular stuff.

Tell me if this sounds familiar?

You sit down after a long day, you open up Facebook or Twitter and your entire feed is filled with CNN, Fox, ESPN, etc. You scroll and scroll and everything is the same headline about some celebrity who died or some crazy thing that happened in a different country. Now I get it, it’s interesting, but to a point. It gets to a point where it’s too much.

Those are the popular follows on any social media app. There’s a reason they are popular. They do the work. They know what they are doing and they try to get as many viewers as possible. Only problem is they target so many different people and most of the time they are only posting stuff that will get views.

On the other hand if you dig a bit deeper you will find a handful of people who have a small amount of followers. They don’t have any incentives so they are just writing for the pure enjoyment of writing. They are only writing about their personal experiences.

These articles are more relatable. More personal. They talk about specific things and they might only post once a month. But what beats that over any other person or account you follow is you’ll want to read all of their posts because you can relate to almost everything they post. They share similar beliefs and values as you.

These personal connections are what we miss these days. I mean obviously an actual face to face conversation is the best but isn’t it better to interact with some you actually seem to care about rather than a bunch of strangers on the internet?

The only way to find these people is to search. Read some of their stuff, if you’re not interested move on. Once you find someone look at who they follow and check some of their stuff out. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by what you find. You’ll find accounts you never knew existed and it will totally be worth it.

On a side note I also do this with music. I’m tired of the same old artists singing different versions of the same songs over and over again. I want something new. Something that sounds different but connects to me on a different level. The only way to do that is to explore. And don’t get me wrong you’ll come across some bad music on your journey but you’ll find some hidden gems that will probably only seem amazing to you and not to others but it’s totally worth it.

Dig deep for the good stuff that nobody sees and you too will find the hidden gems.
